Sweden Hockey Games: Team Russia
Final Cuts: Sokolov, Grebeshkov and Taratukhin
FEB.3 -- Russia's roster became available today for the last stage of Euro-Tour event - Sweden Hockey Games. Only 26 players out of 30 named by head coach Vladimir Plyuschev were able to report to pre tournament camp held in Odintsovo region in Moscow. Yaroslavl's Ivan Nepryaev and Sergei Zhukov, Kazan's Alexander Korolyuk and Soviet Wings' Mikhail Lyubushin, for whom it could have been a debut in the national side, were all no shows due to mostly minor injuries. Earlier today three more players were sent home by the coaching staff.
Avangard Omsk's netminder Maxim Sokolov was by fat the most surprising cut. Sokolov was Russia's uncontested starter throughout three Euro-Tour stages this season and was the one to lift this team to a surprise silver medal finish at last year's World Tournament.
Others to head home were youngsters Denis Grebeshkov of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and Andrei Taratukhin from Omsk.

Goaltenders: Egor Podomatsky (Lokomotiv Yaroslavl), Andrei Tsarev (Ak Bars Kazan).
Defenders: Vasily Turkovsky, Sergei Gusev (both Severstal Cherepovets), Vitaly Proshkin, Fedor Tyutin and Dmitry Erofeev (all Ak Bars), Vladimir Malenkikh (Lada Togliatti), Andrei Skopintsev and Sergei Vyshedkevich (both Dynamo Moscow).
Forwards: Alexander Suglobov, Ivan Tkachenko, Vladimir Antipov (all Lokomotiv), Yuri Trubachev (Severstal), Alexander Perezhogin (Avangard Omsk), Igor Grigorenko (Lada), Sergei Zinoviev, Alexei Chupin (both Ak Bars), Sergei Soin, Ruslan Bernikov (both Soviet Wings Moscow), Sergei Krivokrasov (Amur Khabarovsk), Alexei Tereschenko (Dynamo).
CSKA Moscow's Alexander Polushin will be Russia's reserve 13th forward.
Russia plays it first game of the tournament on Wednesday against Team Canada.-- Russian Hockey Insider
