Medvedev impressive in Spartak's win
Game Recap: SKA - Spartak

Spartak players weren't bothered by a rather long pre-game ceremony dedicated to the memory of SKA legendary forwards. Sweaters with names of Belyaj Bekyashev and Viktor Pantyukhin have been risen up to the roof of gorgeous Ice Palace, built especially for the 2000 World Championship. Moscow side outshoot SKA 7-5 in the opening period and took a comfortable two-goal lead thanks to efforts by Anatoly Filatov and Dmitry Semin.
The home side had several good opportunities to score in the final two periods, but SKA forwards outrageously overpassed the puck all night long and stellar performance  in Spartak's net by 2002 World Junior Champion Andrei Medvedev didn't help the home side's case either.
In the final period teams exchanged power-play goals. Dmitry Upper scored for Moscovites, while Oleg Boltunov stole the shut-out away from Medvedev with just over two minutes left to play.
