Four in four for Kazan!
Game Recap: Ak Bars - Metallurg

-- Sept. 19, KAZAN.

Andrei Tsarev managed 17 saves for his first shut-out of the season to prevail Ak Bars to it's fourth successive victory. Yuri Moiseev team is yet to loose any points this season.
Alexei Chupin scored the decisive goal just 15 seconds into the second period. It was his fourth goal in as many games. Veteran forward grabbed hold of the puck of the opening face-off and powered his way through Jeff Maund's net beating Canadian netminder on second attempt. Remarkably late in the first period Chupin failed to beat Maund on break-away.
In the starting period it was Valery Belousov's side that looked better. The line of former Ak Bars players of Eduard Kudermetov, Almaz Garifullin and Mikhail Sarmatin generated some scoring opportunities. The better of them came eight minutes into the period. Kudermetov rushed down the left wing, fouled Tsarev and had an open net to shoot at, but at last arriving Ak Bars defender chipped the puck of forward's stick.
Kazan's furious pressure early in the second period paid of, as five minutes after Chupin's goal rearguard Dmitry Balmin slammed a powerful shot under the cross bar. On the play Maund went down way too early, but worked off that goal minutes later stopping successively on break-aways Chupin and Alexei Tertyshny. Than at 14:55 Alexander Korolyuk culminated a beautiful three-way passing play involving Sergei Zinoviev and Dmitry Gogolev.
When Valery Zelepukin scored early in the final period the fate of the game became clear.
